Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is chiropractic care?

  • Chiropractic care is a healthcare discipline that focuses on diagnosing, treating, and preventing musculoskeletal disorders, primarily those related to the spine. Chiropractors use hands-on manipulation techniques, primarily spinal adjustments, to restore proper alignment of the spine and facilitate the body's natural healing process.

2. What conditions can chiropractic care treat?

  • Chiropractic care can effectively help a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions, including:
    • Back pain
    • Neck pain
    • Headaches
    • Sciatica
    • Joint pain (e.g., shoulders, knees, hips)
    • Sports injuries
    • Arthritis (help manage symptoms)
    • Postural problems
    • Whiplash injuries
    • Work-related injuries

3. Are chiropractic adjustments safe?

  • Yes, when performed by a qualified and licensed chiropractor, chiropractic adjustments are considered safe and effective. Chiropractors undergo extensive training to ensure the proper application of adjustment techniques and to identify any contraindications or risks for individual patients.

4. Do chiropractic adjustments hurt?

  • Chiropractic adjustments are typically not painful. Some patients may experience mild discomfort or pressure during the adjustment, but this sensation is usually temporary and subsides quickly. Chiropractors prioritize patient comfort and will adjust their techniques accordingly.

5. How many chiropractic sessions will I need?

  • The number of chiropractic sessions needed depends on various factors, including the nature and severity of your condition, your overall health status, and your treatment goals. During your initial consultation, your chiropractor will assess your condition and develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to your specific needs.

6. Can chiropractic care help with conditions other than back pain?

  • Yes, chiropractic care can address a wide range of health issues beyond back pain. Chiropractors focus on improving spinal health and nervous system function, which can positively impact various aspects of health, including posture, flexibility, immune function, and overall well-being.

7. Is chiropractic care suitable for everyone?

  • Chiropractic care is generally safe and suitable for people of all ages, from infants to seniors. However, certain individuals may not be good candidates for chiropractic adjustments, such as those with certain medical conditions (e.g., severe osteoporosis, spinal fractures).  Your chiropractor will conduct a thorough evaluation to determine if chiropractic care is appropriate for you.

8. How long will it take to see results from chiropractic care?

  • The timeframe for experiencing results from chiropractic care varies depending on the individual and their specific condition. Some patients may notice improvements after just a few sessions, while others may require more time for significant changes to occur. Consistency with treatment and following your chiropractor's recommendations can contribute to better and faster outcomes.

9. Is chiropractic care covered by insurance?

  •  Many health insurance plans provide coverage for chiropractic care, but the extent of coverage may vary depending on your specific plan and provider. Our office will also check your benefits and help you understand your obligation if needed, so you're not left guessing about costs. It's still recommended to check with your insurance company directly to understand your full benefits and any potential out-of-pocket expenses associated with chiropractic services.

10. Do you treat personal injury or car accident cases?
Yes — Waiters Chiropractic specializes in personal injury cases, including car accidents and workplace injuries. We work directly with your attorney throughout your treatment and accept Personal Injury Protection (PIP) claims, providing the thorough, well-documented care you need to recover fully.

11. Do you offer acupuncture or Reiki?

  • Yes. In addition to chiropractic care, Dr. Waiters is a Reiki Master and offers both acupuncture and Reiki sessions. Patients seek these therapies for a range of reasons, including pain management, stress relief, pre-surgical preparation, and mental health support. Please note that acupuncture and Reiki are typically not covered by insurance and are paid out-of-pocket per session.

12. What should I expect at my first visit?

  • Your first visit will typically include a consultation to discuss your health history and current concerns, followed by a physical examination to help determine the cause of your symptoms. Based on this evaluation, your chiropractor will develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to your specific needs and goals.

13. What is your cancellation policy?

  • We require 24-hour notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment. No-shows and late cancellations (less than 24 hours' notice) will incur a $45 fee before your next appointment can be scheduled
